What about ticks and TBE in this area?

Accepted Answer

Like everywhere in Sweden, ticks are present in this natural environment, especially in tall grass, bushes and forest edges from late spring through autumn. A tick bite is usually harmless, but it's wise to take some precautions. Recommendations: • Wear long trousers and closed shoes when walking through tall grass or forest. • Use an insect repellent containing DEET or icaridin. • Check yourself, your children and pets thoroughly every evening for ticks (behind the knees, groin, armpits, hairline). • Remove any tick as soon as possible using a tick remover or fine tweezers, pulling straight upward. Some guests who spend a lot of time outdoors in Sweden choose to get vaccinated against TBE (tick-borne encephalitis). Please note that a TBE vaccination requires multiple doses over time, so arranging this shortly before arrival is usually not possible. Don't worry. Millions of people safely enjoy Swedish nature every year. With simple precautions, you can comfortably enjoy your stay and the beautiful surroundings around Norra Vilan.
